For today's young the community adulthood no longer begins where adolescence expirations While most young adults are physically mature and posses the intellectual, social, and psychological skills emergencyed for adulthood, many lack the economic independence to become self-sufficient.

"Many [young people] have not become full adult yet--traditionally defined as finishing sect landing a job with benefits, marrying, and parenting--because they are not ready, or perhaps not permitted, to do so" says sociologist Frank F Furstenberg Jr of the University of Pennsylvania.
